Monroe Library

The J. Edgar and Louise S. Monroe Library will serve as a hub for research and academic support during your graduate school experience. Reserve equipment, find a quiet place to study, schedule a research consultation, or check out the Diboll Art Gallery on the fourth floor when you need a break. Check out some of the services and find your library liaison below, who can provide one-on-one support.

Library Services

  • Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a helpful research tool for many grad students. You can order books or scores that are not available at Loyola’s library from other institutions and have them sent here for pickup. Articles that we don’t have access to may also be requested and will be delivered electronically. Reciprocal borrowing is also available with other university libraries here in New Orleans.
  • Library meeting spaces and portable equipment are available for advance reservation through Media Services. Our seminar rooms and multimedia classrooms are equipped with presentation and web conferencing technology for all of your collaborative and hybrid meeting and instructional needs. Our portable equipment inventory includes laptops, cameras, microphones, speakers, projectors, and a variety of adapters and dongles. There are also eight Digital Media Workstations on the first floor equipped with scanners and the latest professional-grade video, audio, and image production software.
  • Loyola’s Special Collections and Archives on the third-floor of the library provides access to rare books, as well as archival and manuscript collections, including special digital collections available for view online.
  • Library liaisons can help you with research projects and resources specific to your program. Your liaison can provide you with extensive support in the form of one-on-one consultations via email, phone, chat, videoconferencing, and face-to-face meetings. They will help you find relevant resources, discuss how sources are used for different types of writing in your field, as well as how to correctly cite and document them. Explore the directory for librarian liaisons if you are working across disciplines.
